Inverness - Highlands of Scotland

Although some of our trips begin at other ports around Scotland, many Highland Voyages cruises depart from Dochgarroch where the Caledonian Canal joins Loch Ness just outside Inverness. Click here for a map.
The Highland Capital Inverness is easy to reach (see transport details below) and has much to offer in the lively city itself and in the surrounding area. A wide range of accommodation is available if you are not staying on the Eala Bhan.

Loch Ness
Inverness is an ideal starting point for many voyages of discovery. We can sail southwards through Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal to Fort William - gateway to the west coast. Or we can explore the north-east coastline after seeing the dolphins in the Moray Firth.
One of the region's most popular attractions is of course Loch Ness with the historic ruins of Urquhart Castle. Ideal for one of our day sails.
Around Inverness there are many more castles to visit, as well as distilleries and much more to discover! Why not come with us for a weekend sail or longer? In addition to sightseeing, we can also arrange other activities such as hiking or golf - whatever suits you best. For the children, we organise Nessie hunting trips and pirate treasure hunts!

Coaches
The coach network operated by Scottish Citylink covers almost all the major routes within Scotland. Inverness has regular coach connections with Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fort William, Oban, Ullapool, Aberdeen, Wick, Isle of Skye, etc. Visit the Citylink web site for coach timetables.
Trains
Inverness is also well served by trains on the railway lines to/from Glasgow-Edinburgh/Perth, Aberdeen, Wick and Kyle of Lochalsh/Skye. The official UK railways web site provides online timetables.
Planes
Dalcross International Airport is 8 miles east of Inverness. There is a bus service between the airport and city centre (approx. every 45 minutes at peak time). Taxis available, also car hire at the airport.
There are daily flights to/from London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as Orkney and the Hebrides. In addition, EasyJet operates cheap flights from Luton.
